This latest quote is from the one and only Sir Richard Branson (the Virgin) as he attended a glittering $1800-a-seat (who on earth eats $1800 worth of chow?) charity dinner in Auckland in the lead up to the 2011 Rugby World Cup final in the glorious rugby cauldron of Eden Park (I have to mention that as another rugby nut that I am)!

Attended by various corporate bodies of CEO's, GM's, local politicians and celebrities; all in sundry lapped up the business wisdom of the Great One hoping somehow that they will get some pearlers into how to be a billionaire well I'm assuming anyway as well as Branson's take on some of the more pressing commercial issues around the globe such as the reasons behind the Wall St protests.

However his "screw it just do it" direct point to those chowing down on their most expensive meal is to taking up the courage of sharing cool and innovative ideas to your bosses or governances without fear of being fobbed off by some grumpy old git or a female boss who feels it's her duty to exercise her feministic muscle and slam the door in your face.

Every employee longs to work with employers who are totally open to listening to new ideas from the floor without fear of the above mentioned attitudes therefore suffer that gut wrenching feeling of rejection and walking away utterly gutted and wondering how to deal with that hollow feeling in the pit of your stomach and then unfortunately questioning whether there is any future for him/her in the company.

I've been fortunate in my long career whereby I've managed to hit the jackpot in being under quality leadership and management who trusted what I brought and what I continue to bring to the table. This is due to:

A collective understanding that we all want our company or service to grow and benefit our clients on all levels.
Agreeing that all ideas will be listened to and not hastily put in the mental bin regardless if its on the money or not.
A collective agreement between management and I to take calculated risks and if it doesn't work so be it, then move on and keep being creative as long as we don't forget to do our homework.

In light of developing Kawa Enterprises and Kawa Foundation (formerly Faith in Families Foundation) one of coolest things I did was pray (thats right I said it "pray") that I would hit the jackpot again in making the right connections with very highly principled, qualified and experienced people who would work very closely with me and bring some new approaches and ideas to my coffee table for me to consider in growing our commercial ventures and our social consciousness both in New Zealand and overseas. So take a bow Messr's Josh (Kung Fu King) Phillips and Karl (IT techno wiz) Quirino for just "bringing it!"

All in all as far as my own camp is concerned the guys and our other consultants know that they're in an environment that encourages new ideas, accept the process of sifting it together and look at it from all angles if necessary and decide from there. I support those employers, leaders and managers whether its business, community etc who are daring and wise enough to say to their people "Screw It Just Do It!"
